Kasich Soars In New Ohio Poll

Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) has seen a rise in presidential polls following the first debate earlier this month and is seeing a rise in his home state as well.

A Quinnipiac poll released Tuesday shows that Kasich’s home state approval rating is 61 percent, a tie for his highest gubernatorial approval rating. Twenty eight percent of those surveyed disapprove of Kasich’s job performance.

The poll indicated that Kasich’s job performance was approved by 84 percent of Republicans, 60 percent of independents and 46 percent of Democrats.

Kasich, a second term governor, has made his governing ability central to his presidential campaign. He has touted the Medicaid expansion in his state, along with his record as U.S. House budget committee chairman in the 1990s.
